Hiring,
Training & Safety
Our hiring and training processes are linked to maintain a highly
skilled and motivated work force. A five-part hiring system
carefully screens candidates and new hires and all new employees are
fully trained prior to a regular job assignment. Training continues
throughout their employment to meet all state and federal
requirements for safety and right-to-know laws, as well as Service
Performance policies and procedures.
The
Hiring Process
By following a systematic approach to recruiting new personnel—and
implementing our various “Employer of Choice” programs—we have
produced a work force that is better motivated and more qualified,
with a turnover rate well below industry standards.

The
Training Process
The Service Performance training program complies with all
state, federal and local requirements, and is continuously updated
to ensure the safest working conditions for our staff and a
well-trained, highly motivated work force for our customer. We
employ qualified in-house trainers and consultants to facilitate the
various training workshops and discussions. Combining our knowledge
of the customers’ needs with the proven results of professional
training facilitators has brought continuity to the process.

Visual
Aids
Training tools include videos, overhead projectors, posters and
hands-on instruction. Service Performance has created a series of
task-specific charts and posted them in the janitors’ closets.
They serve as a pictorial reminder of the safest way to perform
janitorial responsibilities.
These tools were developed and are presented in
pictorial form because using pictures in training increases
retention by over 70%. We have found that these—along with ‘hands-on’
training experience—successfully prepare our cleaning staff.
